Hiruma considers Mamori. Romantic Introspective, I-3

Pairing(s): Mamori/Hiruma

This was how he put it to himself:

Anezaki Mamori understood the need to fight for what you wanted and cared about.

She was cheerful and outgoing, and probably even sweet, but he doubted she’d be able to carry off refinement or elegance without bursting into giggles half way there.

She never fought fire with fire; she fought fire with a goddamn mop.

She cared for the weak and defenseless, and also for the strong and independent, and even for the downright fucking dangerous. She cared for people like it was her favorite hobby, and it drove him batshit insane and it made him laugh.

She never touched alcohol, not because she took any special effort to avoid it, but simply as though drinking herself drunk never occurred to her as a useful thing to do.

She growled at him and about him, glaring nose-to-nose, but she never once thought she was a failure because of him.

He’d seen older men, men with rings on their left hands, look at her, and he’d seen her dismiss them, cheerful and oblivious and impervious as a boulder rolling over a branch.

In short, Anezaki Mamori was as different from his mother as it was possible to be and still have two X chromosomes, and that was why he was still standing here, watching her look away and turn red, and touching his cheek where he could still feel the light brush of her lips.

“Crazy fucking woman,” he muttered at last, and she spun around, fire in her eyes, mouth open to tear a strip off him, and then she stopped.

He thought it was because he’d taken her hand.

End

I love it. Simplicity in showing your affections is sometimes more sweet and you don’t see that too much in fics. :’3 (And I can imagine Hiruma’s expression when he says that last part, heh.)

Great to hear you liked it!

*grins* I just recently devoured the es21 manga and most of the anime that’s translated. I’m in love with Hiruma. With all of them, really, but especially Hiruma.

S-so cute and wonderful ♥. I love how you included a mention of Hiruma’s mystery mother and how different she was from Mamori. Going in my memories~

      Thank you!

*grins* It’s my pet theory that Hiruma is the illegitimate child of some high roller in business or politics. It seems like it could explain so much.

I like that theory~ It does explain a lot, and it isn’t so erm, overblown, if that’s a good word to describe it. My little brother thinks Hiruma’s dad is a criminal gun smuggler who’s really high up in the Yakuza or something, heh.

I did consider a yakuza explanation. But… Hiruma seems to be completely without parents, in a show that takes some trouble to display the players’ families. Which makes it seem like he does what he does (the blackmail, the guns, the bleach blond and earrings) at least partly as a rebellion or fu to his family. And if they were yakuza, well, he’d be fitting right in. ^_^

Or, you know, this could all be a total red herring, and he actually has a loving family which we will be shown in the last issue, just to mess with our heads. *wry*

*_* I lo-o-o-o-ved it. I first thought it would be a lovey-dovey fic, but once we hit the mother comparison I was hooked. That’s great to think about. And the finale is cute:).

*hearts* Thank you! *laughing* Every time I go to think of a lovey-dovey situation involving Hiruma and Mamori, it seems to develop guns or bitter mothers or some such.

I love this. Everything was just so in character and you gave Hiruma a certain depth that I truly enjoyed. Definitely one of the best HiruMamo fics I’ve read in a while. ^^ Keep it up!

I like that Hiruma’s compliments to Mamori are sort of extorted from himself – he has to admit them grudgingly, and after a long period of judgement. I also liked how the speculation about his mother is built up to, since I was wondering why alcohol was mentioned specifically, and then it made perfect sense. And it’s nice to see speculation about Mummy Hiruma, as most such theories are focused on his dad (personally I suspect his grandmother’s Cruella DeVille, and his mother Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada. No srsly).

      Thank you!

*wry* There’s just something about Hiruma that says “mother issues” to me. Maybe it’s just that we never see him blackmail women. Bribe yes; blackmail no, even when he alleges that he’s collecting things to do so with. Silly boy.

I do think that Mamo-nee is really one fine woman.
And she suits Hiruma-kun so well.

*pleased* Thank you! This was one of my early character sketches for Hiruma, so it’s great to hear it worked out so well.
